CHED Scholarship Program 2021: What You Need to Know

To help learners have access to quality college education especially in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) offers the CHED Scholarship Program for School Year (SY) 2021-2022.

In line with CHED’s effort in providing financial assistance to individuals, STI ensures that learners from all walks of life can turn their dreams into reality during these trying times through its various tertiary programs.

The college programs listed below are considered as “priority courses” of CHED to be eligible in the scholarship program. These programs can be categorized as National or Regional Priority Courses.

Things You Need to Know about the CHED Scholarship Program

Through the CHED Scholarship Program, qualified learners for School Year 2021-2022 will be able to avail of a Full State Scholarship Program (FSSP) and Full Private Education Student Financial Assistance (FPESPA) or a Half State Scholarship Program (HSSP) and Half Private Education Student Financial Assistance (HPESPA).

Individuals who meet the qualifications listed below may apply for the scholarship program.

Qualifications

CHED Scholarship Program

  1. Must be a Filipino citizen
  2. Graduating high school student or high school graduate with a General Weighted Average (GWA) of:
  • 96% or above for the Full State Scholarship Program (FSSP) and Full Private Education Student Financial Assistance (FPESPA)
  • 93-95% for the Half State Scholarship Program (HSSP) and Half Private Education Student Financial Assistance (HPESPA)
  1. Must have a combined annual gross income of parents or guardian that does not exceed PhP400,000 (In cases where the income exceeds PhP400,000, the applicant must present a written certification or medical findings of illness of a family member, or school certifications of two or more dependents enrolled in college)
  2. Avail of only one government funded financial assistance program

 

 

The application period is until August 15, 2021. Interested applicants must present and submit the following requirements:

Citizenship

  • Certified true copy of Birth Certificate

 

 

Academic

 

  • Duly certified true copy of high school report card for incoming freshmen students eligible for college
  • Duly certified true copy of grades for grade 11
  • For graduating high school students, grades in the 1st semester of grade 12 must be submitted

Financial

Student applicants shall submit any of the following documents:

  • Latest Income Tax Return (ITR) of parents or guardian
  • Certificate of Tax Exemption from Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)
  • Certificate of Indigence either from the barangay or Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)
  • Case Study report from DSWD
  • Latest copy of contract or proof of income may be considered for children of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and seafarers

 

A valid certification must also be presented and submitted if you belong to any of the following:

  • Persons with disability (PWD) under RA 7277
  • Solo parent and/or their dependents under RA 8972
  • Underprivileged and homeless citizen under RA 7279
  • Senior citizen under RA 9994
  • Indigenous people under RA 8371
