Team Olympians wins first runner-up in 8th NAASCU meet

STI College Olympians bagged the 1st runner up award in the recently concluded 8th National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (NAASCU) 2008 Conference. With 12 participating schools, colleges, and universities, the Olympians emerged second best this year.

 

In his final game for the Olympians, PBL veteran Ramon Mabayo topscored the game with 17 points and 13 rebounds, at the same time grabbed a slot in this year’s Mythical Five. Another PBL veteran Darryl Mendoza, former Inter STI MVP William Vasallo, and Toyota Otis-bound forward Mike Cabangon have also played their last games for the team.

 

With 11 rookies filling up the line-up, the STI College Olympians participated in their fourth year in the NAASCU league, coming in as the defending champion. It is also the first time in NAASCU history to hold a game three during the championship.
