STI Graduates Thrive as Metrobank STRONG Scholars

Staying true to its commitment to help students access quality education, STI College, in partnership with the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI), celebrated the success of its scholars under the Metrobank STRONG Scholarship Program during the recognition ceremony held on October 9, 2025, at F1 Hotel in BGC, Taguig.  

For School Year 2024–2025, a total of 62 students from various STI campuses across Metro Manila taking up BS Information Technology (BSIT) and BS Computer Science (BSCS) successfully graduated as full scholars under the program. 

Among these graduates, 32 have already been hired and are currently undergoing a management training program, highlighting how the scholarship program helps scholars transition seamlessly from college to their career. 

One of the scholars, Faith Getulle, a BS Computer Science graduate from STI College Ortigas-Cainta, shared her experience as one of the beneficiaries of the Metrobank STRONG Scholarship Program. 

“It was such a big help. The STRONG scholarship does not only support my education, but they also believe that I can achieve my dreams in life,” said Getulle.  

Beyond the financial assistance, Getulle is grateful for the learning experiences that helped her grow. Through the Metrobank Foundation’s training programs and workshops, scholars gain valuable skills and exposures that prepare them for life in the professional world. 

“It really boosted my confidence knowing that I had the support of both STI and Metrobank,” shared Getulle. “Being a Metrobank scholar is something that I never expected. Before, I only dreamed of working in a bank, and that dream is now a reality,” she added. 

Another scholar from STI College Ortigas-Cainta, John Paul Birol, shared his inspiring journey as a Metrobank STRONG scholar, looking back on how the partnership between STI College and Metrobank Foundation, Inc. shaped his college experience. 

“I was able to focus more on my studies and give my best without worrying too much about finances,” said Birol.  

At STI, Birol found an environment that encouraged growth and development that prepared him for life beyond the classroom.   

“I promised myself I would pursue Computer Science, and that’s why I chose STI because they thrive and specialize in that field. From their coursework and supportive teaching styles, every experience strengthened my skills and fuelled my passion for software development even more,” he said. 

Today, Birol is now working as a Software Developer at Metrobank, which marks a full-circle moment showing how dedication, opportunity, and support can open doors to success.  

The Metrobank STRONG Scholarship Program, in partnership with STI College, continues to make a lasting impact on students like Getulle and Birol. Through this collaboration, scholars are motivated to reach their goals, excel in their chosen careers, and give back to their communities. 

“At STI College, our partnership with the Metrobank Foundation helps turn our students’ potential into real success,” said STI’s VP for Academics, Karen Precious Tabije. “It will continue to inspire and guide future scholars, just like the 62 graduates we celebrate today.”
