By: Blessy Sibalon , October 3, 2025
In a continuous effort to provide educational innovation in an evolving digital era, STI Education Services Group (STI ESG) entered a partnership with ASEAN Foundation and its local implementation partner Limitless Lab on September 30, 2025.
Through this collaboration, the institution's aim is to strengthen responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) while also empowering young learners with AI literacy.
This partnership marks STI College's participation in the AI Ready ASEAN initiative, which seeks to raise awareness and develop e-learning platforms to broaden access in digital education.
“In ASEAN Foundation, we want to make sure that AI literacy is accessible to everyone. I do believe that STI plays an important role in empowering young people across the Philippines,” said the ASEAN Foundation Head of Program Ilan Asqolani.
CEO and Founder of Limitless Lab, Joie Cruz, highlighted the importance of promoting AI resources widely available as a part of digital education.
“We believe that the mandate and vision of STI College to provide quality and affordable education for Filipinos aligns with our goal at AI Ready ASEAN to promote AI literacy in our local communities,” Cruz shared.
The ASEAN Foundation began its drive to develop responsible AI users by launching the AI Ready ASEAN initiative, a flagship program called “Hour of Code”.
Supported by Google.org, Hour of Code is a global campaign with the primary objective of empowering individuals across Southeast Asian countries to understand how AI works.
Designed as a simple introductory AI session, the Hour of Code is intended to spark interest among participants through hands-on activities.
The AI Ready ASEAN: Hour of Code session was also held at STI College Ortigas-Cainta with 43 participants. The session was facilitated by Loida Dumaguin, STI’s Head of Student Development & Welfare and Master Trainer of Limitless Lab.
Participants came from diverse backgrounds such as students, instructors, and employees of the STI Head Office representing various age groups and roles in the academic community.
Moving forward, these initiatives will soon be rolled out to STI College campuses nationwide. It seeks to provide students exposure to the concepts and practical skills needed to use AI effectively and engage with it critically.
STI’s VP for Academics Karen Precious Tabije, emphasizes the possible threat of AI and reinforce awareness and critical thinking in students.
“I want that idea embedded in them [students], because that's our problem. AI, sometimes, when used by the wrong people or placed in the wrong hands, can become a source of misinformation or disinformation. So, regardless of how capable AI is or how much information it provides, the human factor should always be there,” said Tabije.
This tie-up between STI ESG, ASEAN Foundation and Limitless Lab reflects a growing commitment to provide students with a foundation in digital skills and prepare them for the demands of a rapidly evolving technological environment.
