STI Olympians enters CCL semis

Winning the National Athletic Association of Schools Colleges and Universities (NAASCU) recently has propelled the STI College Olympians to be part of the highly-esteemed 5th National Collegiate Champions League (CCL).

As a team barely in its fourth year of existence, members of the Olympians were assessed as the 13th seed in the tournament of champions. Because of that the Olympians was considered as one of the underdogs in the CCL. Proudly, and to the surprise of numerous collegiate basketball enthusiasts, the Olympians bucked the odds and made it to the final four of the CCL.

Last November 21, 2007, the unheralded Olympians defeated perennial UAAP powerhouse and CCL 5th seed Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws, who qualified as the 2007 University Games Champions, to the tune of a 77-72 victory.

The game was tight all throughout, but the persevering Olympians spearheaded by coach Vic Ycasiano, gave their all to emerge victorious.
