STI Holds 2nd Global Career Connection

Thousands of newly graduate students flocked the 2nd Global Career Connection last September 20 and 21, 2006 at the Megatrade Hall 1 in Megamall.

 

Global Career Connection is a project spearheaded by STI’s Alumni and Career Services Department.

 

More than 5,000 job opportunities here and abroad were made available through the Global Career Connection. Over 50 companies from various sectors such as BPO, IT, telecommunications, banking, transportation and media participated in this grand event. A few of these companies are Accenture, Citibank, Convergys, eTelecare, Fuji Xerox, PLDT, IBM Services, Netopia, and Cebu Pacific.

 

On the other hand, a number of these companies are likewise existing partners of STI for an annual project called the National Job Placement Month. STI’s National Job Placement Month is annually held on March at different STI Colleges and Education Centers nationwide.

 

Unlike the National Job Placement Month however, the Global Career Connection presents local and overseas job opportunities to the public. Also participating in the Global Career Connection is Global Resource for Outsourced Workers, Inc. or GROW, the placement agency of STI.

 

In an interview, Chicky N. Recheta, head of STI’s Alumni and Career Services Group stated that the Global Career Connection coupled with other activities such as the National Job Placement is a concrete manifestation of the school’s Enrollment-to-Employment Program.

 

STI’s Enrollment-to-Employment (E2E) Program is a system that aims to provide not only quality education to its students but job placement assistance as well. E2E aims to produce job-ready graduates and to provide these graduates with as much employment opportunities as possible.

 

Apart from giving opportunity to job hunters, Global Career Connection likewise showcased free seminars that tackled Career Pathing, Resume Writing, Interview Techniques, Power Dressing, and other aspects of Personality Development.

 

Speakers during the seminars include the following reputable names in the industry: Raymond L. Catane, General Manager of GROW; Managing Director and Consultant Zeny F. Velasco; Reuel K. Virtucio, STI’s VP for Business Development; Alfredo Primicias III, Recruitment Manager at Sutherland Global Services; Aileen Gutierrez and Reynald Lapan, sourcing specialists at SYKES Asia; and Serely Geraldine D. Alcaraz, Center Head at ITD Consulting Group.
