PEP rally to send off STI College Olympians

STI, the Philippine’s largest network of colleges, announced the holding of its first-ever PEP Rally for the STI College Olympians that would also serve as a send off party for STI’s basketball team set to compete in the upcoming season of the National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (NAASCU).

Recognizing the value of sports as a good means of developing the Filipino youth into well rounded individuals, STI has envisioned a grand rally that would allow students from different STI schools around the metropolis to show its belief and support in the talents and sports capabilities of its Olympians.

“As an educational institution that provides a wholistic learning approach, STI believes that students should be involved in both academic affairs as well as in extra curricular activities, particularly in sports so they may also discover their other potentials,” said Elbert de Guzman, vice president of STI.

For several years now, STI has been espousing the value of competitiveness and sports among its students, providing them support during competitions – whether at the intra-colleges (Tagisan ng Galing at Talino), or the local barangay or municipal level, as well as at the regional, national and international level competitions.

“The individual interests and talents of students are a core part of their development. So, as active members of society, we feel that our students should also be given the opportunity to be recognized as this will further encourage them to build self-confidence and eventually excel in their chosen fields,” he adds.

In line with this, Relzbach Sports Inc., the exclusive distributor of AND 1 Footwear and Apparel in the country, has joined the educational institution in its thrust of promoting sports in the academe by entering into a partnership with STI. The agreement establishes AND 1 as the official outfitter of STI’s basketball team. As such, basketball players from STI will be wearing official AND 1 uniforms during the NAASCU 5th season slated from July to September this year.

“We at Relzbach Sports, Inc. support STI’s thrust in promoting sports in order to encourage STI students to further hone their talents and personality,” says Richard Bachmann, Relzbach Sports, Inc. Vice President. “We are privileged to have been given the chance to partner with an institution that considers the importance of being able to balance the students’ academic and extra-curricular activities.”

At the PEP Rally, a number of SMB All Stars players led by 1992 PBA MVP Ato “The Atomic Bomb” Agustin, Vince “The Prince” Hizon, Pido Jarencio, Bobby “The Firecracker” Jose, Cris “Jumbo” Bolado, Elmer Reyes, Joey Sta. Maria, Nandy Garcia, Noynoy Falcasantos, Ed Cordero, Ronald Magtulis, and Alvin Castro will be playing an exhibition game with the STI College Olympians.

And 1 endorsers; Rodney Santos, JR Reyes, Gerard Francisco, Ranidel de Ocampo and Lordy Tugalde will also grace the event in support of the Olympians.
