Game Notes: STI College Quezon ? Avenue topples STI College ? Global City in Overtime

The STI College – Quezon Avenue cagers' thirst for a comeback this year was strongly felt as they faced the team that booted them out from the top three last year – team STI College – Global City. The drive was evident as they built-up a cushion that prevented the late-game heroics of STI College Global City- capping the game with 101-99 in overtime.

Raymark Sarmiento of STI College-Quezon Avenue led the onslaught with 26 points including the game-winning trey to grab the win in the fourth quarter. Teammates Macky Macabasco contributed 17 points and former STI Basketball Showdown MVP William Vasallo withstood the pressure with 14 points letting the Quezon Avenue dribblers trail during most of the first half. Vasallo calmly sank three pointers while Macabasco led them back to the game. Ervin Magistrado with 14 points, Rogie Trunio added 12 points, and new recruit Charlon Untalan gathered 10 points banking hefty double figure scores to give the QA cagers a balanced attack.

The unwavering team from Global City were down by eight points in the fourth quarter with a score of 86-78, but uncorked the paralyzing 11-5 run allowing them to catch up with the Quezon Avenue dribblers at 91-all.

Do-it-all forward Wynald Sultan carried the fight for the home team as he scored 21 remarkable points, ably backing him up are Herminio Avila with 20 points, shifty guard Van Elle Mamangon with 13 points, burly forward John Magsalos with 11 points, Arvin Sarmiento with 10 points and their point guard Andrew Oyama who contributed 9 points. Sultan also fueled the team with 4 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.
