STI Student Top 6 in PNLE

Florence Jill Dela Victoria Polina, a BS Nursing graduate of STI College – Cebu ranks 6th out of 78,135 examinees of the Philippine Nursing Licensure Examination — a nationwide licensure exam given by the Board of Nursing to test the level of skills and competencies of nursing graduates in the Philippines.

With an average score of 86.60, Florence Jill is among the 37,513 newly-registered nurses who passed the exam held last July 2011, according to the results released by the Philippine Regulation Commission (PRC).

Florence shares that, “I was not expecting to land a spot in the top 10. I just studied really hard and held on to my dream of becoming a registered nurse. Aside from attending review classes, I also did a lot of research and readings on my own. It also helped that our teachers and Dean from STI College – Cebu gave us tips and pointers on what to review. And when the day of the exam came, I prayed hard for guidance and enlightenment.”

Her journey to the top 10 is not without trials, during her review, Jill discovered that her father has cancer which at first, her family tried to keep from her. When she knew about it though, she used this as an inspiration to drive her to the top, dedicating her success to her beloved father.

This young lady is truly an achiever in school, she received the coveted Related Learning Experience Award, a dean’s lister, and Vice President of the Nursing Student Body Organization. She also graduated with honors, ranking first among her batch.

Currently, Florence Jill resides in California, United States and is preparing for her National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for registered nurses.

True to her namesake – legendary nurse Florence Nightingale – Florence Jill’s future plans include taking up Master in Nursing Administration and teaming up with other nurses to conduct medical missions and outreach programs to people who cannot afford medical assistance in Cebu.
