STIers learn the Value of a Vote

STI partnered once again with ABS-CBN for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Elections held last October 25, 2010. Team STI provided technical assistance in ABS-CBN's Bida Juan Helpdesks in selected live point centers in Payatas A Elementary School in Quezon City, Guadalupe Elementary School in Cebu City, and in Buluan Central Elementary School in Cagayan de Oro.

Jethro Costales, a volunteer from STI College – Fairview, shared that aside from giving technical support they also helped the voters in finding their voting precincts especially when they saw the overwhelming number who are eager to exercise their right to vote.

The election also served as an eye-opener to the STI volunteers, composed of students, faculty, and staff members, who witnessed firsthand how much the Filipino people value their right to suffrage. It taught them to be vigilant and that whether the elections are held manually or automated, all Filipinos should stand up and let their voices be heard – because every vote counts.

This is the sixth time that ABS-CBN chose STI to be their partner in their Halalan campaign. Together with ABS-CBN, STI is set on keeping the spirit of volunteerism and vigilance alive, most importantly among the Filipino youth.
