STI WNU Breaks Ground for School of Basic Education

In their ardent pursuit of academic excellence, STI West Negros University (STI WNU) commenced the construction of their School of Basic Education (SBE) building on November 25, 2022.
Graced by City Mayor of Bacolod Alfredo “Albee” Benitez, the groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of the erection of a three-storey building that will serve as the home to STI WNU’s basic education department; namely the Nursery, Kinders 1 and 2, Elementary, and Junior High School levels.
Occupying 2,915 square meters of the campus lot area, the new building will also house a roof deck that allows potential higher floors in case it is subjected to expansion.

“We uphold our standard in our facilities to the highest regard as much as our standard in education is being held,” STI WNU President Peter K. Fernandez said.
“This ceremony shows that STI only provides students with the highest quality of education and welfare,” added Fernandez who was also joined by STI WNU Chairman of the Board Atty. Monico V. Jacob and STI WNU Executive Vice President (EVP) and University Administrator Dr. Ryan Mark Molina in the ceremony.

The new SBE building, which is designed to roughly accommodate 3,600 people, will offer state-of-the-art facilities in compliance with the Department of Education (DepEd). The 62-foot building will house general academic amenities such as science, chemistry, biology, and physics laboratories; as well as a home economics lab. It will also offer two computer labs and a shared library for all levels.
“As one of the country’s leading producers of top-notch students, it is our moral responsibility to give them the best education. With our state-of-the-art facilities, we are able to nurture students to become competent and responsible members of society in the finest way possible,” said Fernandez.
The fully-airconditioned standard classrooms, furthermore, will be equipped with LED televisions for interactive classes, and a clinic to accommodate students’ health concerns. An isolation room will be available in response to COVID-19 safety protocols.
The groundbreaking ceremony ritual proper
Spearheaded by construction firm EDL Konstrak Incorporated in a design and build project, the SBE building is estimated to be completed between October to November 2023, approximately a year after the groundbreaking ceremony.
Ever since it was acquired by STI Education Systems Holdings, Inc. in April 2013, STI WNU has been producing thousands of future-ready students with more along the way in the years to come.
