Find Out who Conquered the 6th Tugob Festival

After a heart-stopping cultural dance performance, STI College – Ormoc wowed more than 6,000 spectators during the 6th Tugob Festival on October 20, 2015 at the Ormoc Superdome. Tugob is a Visayan term for “abundance” and the festival is both a celebration and thanksgiving for the region’s bountiful resources.

With 11 contingents coming from different schools that vied for the championship title, STI College – Ormoc was lauded as the biggest winner of the festival, taking home PhP200,000 as the grand prize.

For this year’s festivity, the school featured the region’s rich steam fields as Tribu Gahim Alisngaw or Power of Steam. In collaboration with the Energy Development Corporation (EDC), STI College – Ormoc weaved a storyline that clearly depicts how Ormoc is an abundant source of steam starting from its discovery in the early 1970s by EDC geoscientists to the first steam field in Visayas. Composed of 100 dancers and 130 propsmen, Team STI was able to showcase how steam, being an abundant source in Ormoc, has helped improve the lives of Ormocanons.

Meanwhile, another award was on the works. STI College – Ormoc’s 1st year BS Tourism Management (BSTM) student, Ma. Kristine Laurente, maintained a graceful poise while showcasing her beauty, intelligence and talent, winning the 1st Runner-up title at the Tugob Festival Queen Pageant.

As the proclamation of winners unfolds, the entire school community showed the true spirit of being an STIer as they sang with might and pride the STI hymn.
