STI Celebrates 23rd Anniversary with student competitions

STI is celebrating this year its 23 years of providing quality education to the Filipino youth. STI’s 23rd Anniversary theme is all about building a strong team spirit. It aims to encourage all STI students, faculty and staff to come together in the spirit of unity and solidarity.

 

STI’s 23rd anniversary festivities include academic (Tagisan ng Talino 2006) and social competitions (Talent Search 2006) participated by students of STI Colleges and Education Centers nationwide.

 

Tagisan ng Talino 2006 was held last August 23 at the PETA Theatre in Quezon City. Academic competitions held during that day include a team quiz competition, an impromptu speech competition, an oratorical contest, programming and web development competitions.

 

A team of students from STI College Balayan won the World Web Warriors website development competition. The team was composed of Emmarlene B. Agdigos, Norman R. Caraig, and Aris R. Macalalad.

 

For the impromptu speech competition, it was STI College BATANGAS student Corazon V. Dimaano who bagged the trophy. Meanwhile Lea G. Linson of STI College Tanauan won the Oratorical Competition.

 

Tagisan ng Talino 2006 was also highlighted by a programming Competition called Most Valuable Programmers(MVP). Winners for the Junior Level were Jothamy A. Aldea, Dexter John S. Pangilinan, and Rodentor Z. Sano from STI Tacurong.

 

Senior Level Winners for the programming competition, on the other hand, were Alkarim D. Imao, Galileo D. Lajara, and Jeffrey B. Landicho from STI College Marikina.

 

A Grand Masters Quiz Team Competition was also held at PETA Theatre last August 23 with Junior Level winners from STI College Tanay and Senior Level winners from STI College Malolos.

 

Junior Level winners include Edwin Nathaniel Balaoro II, Mike Anthony Catuina, and Glyza Aileen B. Inonong. Senior Level winners were Raffy M. Fajardo, Francis Voltaire C. DeLara, and Jerdette B. Cordeta.

 

Meanwhile Talent Search 2006 was held at Aliw Theatre last August 25 with competitions like battle of the bands, solo singing competition, group dancing contest, and the much-awaited Mr. and Ms. STI Pageant.

 

STI College Balagtas' TOOTHCHEW won the band competition besting 13 other hopefuls. Carmencita A. Marquez of STI College Munoz-EDSA on the other hand won the Solo Jam Singing Competition.

 

For the Grand Slam Group Dancing Competition, it was Campus Katz of STI College Paranaque’s who bagged the championship.

 

Mr. STI 2006 meantime was Rafael Avena of DLS-STI College of Heath Professions while MS. STI 2006 was Zephorah A. Mayon of STI College Las Pinas.

 

STI’s 23rd anniversary celebration showcased not only the academic excellence of its students but also talent and wit.

 

STI started as computer school in August 21, 1983 and managed to grow its network of three IT centers into a network of more than 100 campuses nationwide.

 

STI has also diversified its course offerings to include Business Administration, Education, Engineering and Healthcare. It holds the largest network of nursing schools in the country.

 

In line with its Enrollment-to-Employment Program(E2E), STI has also diversified into other services including healthcare and medical transcription.

 

STI now has a significant stake in DLS-STI Medical Center(formerly Delos Santos Medical Center) and also owns a controlling stake in medical transcription firm Summit Technologies, Inc.

 

STI’s E2E program takes care of a student’s need from the time he/she enrolls at STI until the time he/she applies for a job. The E2E program does not only render quality education to students but job placement assistance for them as well.

Through STI’s affiliation with DLS-STI Medical Center, Summit Technologies and placement arm Global Resource for Outsourced Workers, Inc.(GROW) , its students and alumni are given training and job opportunities.
