Despite the rains last August 14, 2009, the Arts’ Night of the STI Center of Arts was concluded as one fine night.  It was a taste of the exciting things that the STI Center of Arts has instore for the arts enthusiasts.

The Arts’ Night gave a sweet treat to all its attendees. The sumptuous bouffet was prepared by the Executive Chefs themselves who are also behind the culinary program of the STI Center of Arts. In the roster of master chefs were Chiloy Santos of Tender Bobs and Meat Plus; Dhindo Pascual of the American Le Cordon Bleu School and Chef/Owner of Pidente Restaurant; Paulo Sia, Chef of Unilever Foods Kitchen; Kenneth Flavier, Chef/Owner of Don Ken Restaurant; and Ingrid Mediarito, Chef/Owner of Sweet Haven Pastries.

The gorgeous ladies from Mutya ng Pilipinas also graced the Arts’ Night.

One of the event’s head turners was the photo exhibit with the theme “Journey to Passion.” It was a showcase of the astonishing life captures from the lens of Jim Paredes, Sara Black and Eddie Boy Escudero. True to its theme, the images reflected the passion of these seasoned photographers on their craft; Paredes on Human Form, Landscape and Portraits; Black on Fashion; and Escudero on Weddings.

Guests were also fascinated with the photo opt sessions at the Blow-Up Babies booth. With the band set-up as background, they were enthused to pose either as rock stars or the next singing sensation. And in a matter of minutes, participants were thrilled to receive the printed copies of their photos as souvenirs.

The night’s highlight was the presentation from Trumpets featuring superb kid and adult performances. A musical play delighted the audience with Charlie Brown and Broadway hits. The Company’s Sweet Plantado-Tiongson and Mayen Bustamante-Cadd  also serenaded everyone with their heartfelt songs. These production numbers manifest the strengths of the STI Center of Arts’ program in the performing arts namely music, dance, instruments and theater. Spectators couldn’t help but to be amazed of the entire presentation as they comfortably watched all these from the venue’s state-of-the-art and 180-seater auditorium.

Among those present during the occasion were STI President and CEO Monico Jacob, STI Center of Arts Managing Director Jaeger Tanco, STI Senior Executives, Trumpets’ President Audie Gemora, Vice-President Carlo Orosa, and former Board Members Carol and Shiela Francisco together with Raw Photography’s President Dominadoranne Lim, VP for Operations Louis-Paul Heusaff and VP for Marketing and Treasurer Enrique “Quark” Henares.

In his message during the program, Audie Gemora asserted his gratitude to STI for having chosen Trumpets as one of the partners of the STI Center of Arts. He also looks forward to having Trumpets’ performances right at the STI Academic Center’s auditorium.

The Arts’ Night proved to be an enriching experience wherein participants have been confident that people can expect only the best from the STI Center of Arts. The people behind the Arts’ Night are the same industry veterans who will mentor the students.

A Fusion of IT and the Arts

The brainchild of Jaeger Tanco, the STI Center of Arts set sights on making STI an educational institution that hones not only the academic and technical competencies of individuals, but one that also taps on their creative and artistic side. It provides specialty and short-term courses in photography, culinary, performing arts including music, dance and theater. With the industry-veteran instructors along with the high-end facilities, the STI Center of Arts is a promising name. Professionals, hobbyists and arts’ lovers, young and old alike, will surely benefit from the dynamic programs being offered.

Tanco explains, “We have to look into a more holistic development of the individual through the arts. That’s the reason for the creation of the Center of Arts. It’s also a response to what the industry needs – culinary, photography, music, dance and theater arts will develop the individual holistically.”

Jacob shares, “Our positioning is not to compete with other schools that are into the arts. We’re also not saying that we’re an arts school. We’d just like to encourage students to come and be thrilled by the arts.” He also extends that the STI Center of Arts aims to offer whatever services and facilities it can provide to both aficionados and arts professionals combined.
